[BIOMETRIC]Telpo and UnionCommunity launch contactless biometric temperature screening terminals as market heats up

Telpo has launched a new non-contact terminal combining biometric facial recognition and body temperature measurement with access control and time and attendance tracking capabilities

The new TPS950T measures temperature within 0.3 degrees Celsius from a distance of roughly 50 to 70 centimeters (20 to 28 inches), and provides a voice prompt or alarm when a fever is detected, with support for multiple languages from among dozens available. In addition to face recognition, individuals can be verified through QR-code or NFC card scanning, and mask detection is integrated.

Onboard white-light LED illumination enables the terminal to function at night or in other low-light conditions, and the company says easy software and platform management are supported, with visitor registration, real-time temperature report uploading, and data tracking.

The terminal is equipped with RJ45, Door lock, Wiegand and RS485 ports for broad compatibility with access control systems and electronic locks. The TPS950T can also be installed in any of six different methods to meet the needs of a variety of settings.

Telpo recently demonstrated an increasingly-broad range of biometric solutions with temperature scanning in a webinar.

UnionCommunity has integrated thermal imaging with its facial recognition terminals to monitor visitors to places like hospitals, public institutions, and sports facilities.

The UBio-X Pro2 terminal does not store raw facial images, and scans are performed from a distance of up to 2 meters as people walk past. Temperature measurements are accurate to within 0.5 degrees Celsius, according to the company.

Registration can be performed through a mobile phone, and for registered visitors, temperature readings can be included with access records.

“Based on our know-how in developing and selling biometric systems over the past two decades, we have launched a thermal detection solution that can effectively respond to (the) COVID-19 crises.” said Shin Yo-Sik, CEO of UnionCommunity. “The new products can be easily used at sports facilities, educational institutions, school meal facilities, welfare facilities, exhibitions and seminars that bring together many people as well as public institutions and companies.”

The system will be put through the TOPCIT IT competency test by UnionCommunity and Chung-Ang University to show the effectiveness of the contactless, automated technology.

UnionCommunity recently added iris biometrics to its UBio line to provide another option for touchless identification.

New Alliance for stadiums and teams to share safety strategies

Patriot One Technologies has announced an expansion of its partnership with Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) and Banc of California Stadium with the formation of “The Stadium & Event Safety Strategic Alliance.”

The plan is for the Alliance to turn Banc of California Stadium into a showcase for their vision of safe and secure public gathering spaces with ground-breaking security technology. The group plans to invite the participation of thought leaders in event and pro sports safety and security, and in addition to COVID-19 will discuss how to mitigate terrorism and shootings. Stakeholders from different professional sports organizations and stadiums around the world can share information on safety and security strategies through the Alliance.

Patriot One’s PATSCAN Multi-Sensor Threat Detection modules will be implemented at the stadium this month, along with the new PATSCAN VRS-T Thermal Elevated Body Temperature and PATSCAN VRS-HS Facial Mask Detection modules.

Thermal scanning market supply and demand both growing

Research on The Global Thermal Scanners Market by TechSci Research indicates significant growth in the area through 2025, driven largely by requirements for airport operation.

The 116-page report considers the different wavelengths, technologies, applications and end-users for thermal scanners, profiles major companies providing the technology, and breaks down the market regionally. Fixed installations are expected to make up the main deployment type over the forecast period.

Verifyii has launched a solution which offers a vendor and visitor credentialing platform with elevated body temperature scanning on a device built with military-grade hardware. The terminal can perform time and attendance functions and provides an optional touchless biometric system, while the thermal camera provides highly accurate readings within three to five seconds, according to the announcement.

Artificial Intelligence Solutions, Inc. has announced that its Robotic Assistance Devices (RAD) subsidiary is now taking orders for its Wally Unit with a new Health Screening Option solution featuring Temporal Artery temperature detection. The system also offers facial recognition and visitor management.

An autonomous robot with  has been developed by SK Telecom and Omron to perform disinfection, as well as mask and temperature-checking duties, ZDNet reports. The robot utilizes facial recognition developed by SK Telecom, and sends temperature details to a central server over 5G.

IoT startup Qopper has launched two products, an Occupancy Monitor and Temperature Kiosk for Touchless Check-ins, to help commercial and retail businesses safely reopen. The kiosk leverages facial recognition or QR-code scanning for identification.
